A love story with Greece that dates back to childhood. The desire to draw from the reunion with this land, which shines in such a special light and unique colors, the starkness of the wild islands, and the beauty of the sea, creates an alloy of precious purity, raw simplicity, and feelings of protection.
The jewelry Melanie creates is handcrafted in Athens, respecting traditional Greek techniques, and unfolds this unique and original aspect that gives it its grace.
She is inspired by Mediterranean culture, nature, mythology, and symbols of good fortune, reinterpreting their design codes into this delicate and refined jewelry that feels like an extension of oneself, connecting with the skin. The airy forms, marked by femininity and simplicity, combine 14 or 18-carat gold and are sometimes adorned with gemstones and semi-precious stones personally selected by Melanie. She has always had a passion for gemology and believes in the magical and mystical energy of stones.
Inspired by travels, the development of Eikosi Dyo will naturally turn to other countries and cultures, but gold and Greek culture will always remain at the heart of the designs.
DESIGNER
Melanie Nydegger left her homeland, Switzerland, and settled in Paris, where she studied dramatic arts. After appearances on camera and on stage, she turned to fashion in search of a new experience. She spent nearly 10 years as a fashion journalist before founding her fine jewelry brand in 2013.
A self-taught and fast learner, she immersed herself in the techniques of jewelry making and learned everything she needed to know from an experienced jeweler and mentor, enthusiastically beginning a wonderful adventure that she now calls "eikosi dyo," which means "twenty-two" in Greek, "the day everything changed" for her.
Melanie splits her time between Athens and Paris, bringing the lightheartedness of the Greek spirit to the refined fashion capital.
